I spent thirteen years getting results to finishers at some of the largest endurance events in North America. SplitKit is what I built next, for the timers who do that work.
THE SHORT VERSION
I’m Ryan Lowe, founder of SplitKit. From 2012 to 2026 I co-founded and built RaceResults360, a results and experience platform for marathon and triathlon events, including the NYC Triathlon, Escape from Alcatraz, and the Life Time Triathlon series. When timing platforms got good enough to do what we had been building by hand, we closed it cleanly rather than compete. Alongside all of that, I spent two decades building the systems that deliver an email or a text to the right person at the right second, at ExactTarget, AWS, and Microsoft. SplitKit is where those two threads meet: finish-line delivery, built on RACE RESULT, free for timers to connect.
RACERESULTS360, 2012 TO 2026
The last mile of every result.
In 2012 I co-founded RaceResults360. The moment someone crosses the line is the best moment of the whole event, and for years the last mile of it, getting that result into the finisher’s hand and in front of their family, was the part everyone built from scratch. That was the part we built.
We built the whole product line. Branded iOS and Android apps with live results, course maps, and alerts. A white-label results engine that race directors dropped straight into their own websites, with a live race clock. Tablet stations for on-site lookup. And the piece I cared about most: results delivered by SMS, email, and Facebook the instant they posted, so a finisher’s family knew before the finisher had caught their breath.
Our customers were timing companies. Over thirteen years, more than twenty-five of them ran over eight thousand events through the platform, from small-town turkey trots to the NYC Triathlon, Escape from Alcatraz, Nation’s Triathlon, the Life Time Triathlon series, Iron Girl, the U.S. Open Triathlon, LA Triathlon, and NYC Runs.

I have also spent my share of race mornings on the other side of it, setting up timing mats at Escape from Alcatraz, Nation’s Triathlon, and regional races for a timing company I worked alongside for years. Back when they were still mats.
It also taught me the two things SplitKit is built on. The timer is the customer. The participant is the experience.
Timers own the relationship with the race director, they own the data, and anything that makes their life harder on race morning is dead on arrival. I learned that from more than twenty-five timing companies and from my own mornings on the line. And every feature is judged by what a finisher sees on their phone.
RaceResults360 closed in January 2026, for a good reason: the timing platforms got good enough that the layer we built by hand stopped being worth building. RACE RESULT now does most of it out of the box. So SplitKit does not sell you a results platform. It plugs into the one you already run.
BEFORE THE FINISH LINE
Messaging at scale is not new territory.
The rest of my career has been messaging at scale. I started as an engineer at ExactTarget, now Salesforce Marketing Cloud, building the products big brands send email with. At AWS I was a Senior Solutions Architect for Amazon Pinpoint and Simple Email Service, the services developers use to send text and email to hundreds of millions of people. Most recently I worked inside Microsoft’s marketing organization on the data platforms behind that same kind of messaging.
A text that reaches one finisher three seconds after the mat reads is not hard. Every finisher, every event, no extra work for the timer on race morning: that is a different problem, and it is the one I have been working on since 2010.
